National War Memorial and National War Museum

Government has initiated steps to construct National War Memorial and National War Museum in the country. The Cabinet in its meeting held on 7th October 2015 has approved the proposal for construction of National War Memorial at ‘C’ Hexagon of India Gate and the National War Museum either at Princess Park Complex in Delhi or any other suitable site in the vicinity. The matter is under active consideration of this Ministry.

Provision of Rs.2.00 Crore was made available under Capital Outlay on Defence Services towards National War Memorial under Budget Estimates 2015-16 and no expenditure has been incurred till date.

This information was given by Defence Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar in a written reply to Shri R Parthipan in Lok Sabha today.
