Income Tax Return of deceased assessee
Can a LEGAL HEIR e-File the Income Tax Return of the deceased assessee?
Answer: Yes. A Legal Heir can file Income Tax Return and view e-Filed Returns/Forms of the deceased person for the e-Filed Assessment Year.
The ITD is asking to file letter from Government authority to register as legal heir. In Chhattisgarh state there is no such system prevalent and registration as legal heir is not being possible. Earlier an affidavit was considered and legal heir was registered. Please advise. Thanks
