Review of Security Arrangements of Jails
“Prisons” is a State subject as per Entry 4 of List II of the Seventh Schedule to the Constitution of India. Therefore, the administration and management of prisons is primarily the responsibility of the State Governments. However, an advisory has been issued to the States/UT Administrations on 28.4.2015 for adopting measures for improvement of security of jails.
