Anti dumping duty on narrow woven fabric Extended for one year

The Finance Ministry has extended by one year the validity of anti-dumping duty on ‘’narrow woven fabric’ imports from China and Chinese Taipei.

In market parlance, “narrow woven fabric” are popularly known as “Velcro tapes” or “fastening tapes”.or “hook and loop tape fasteners”.

It finds application in industries such as garment industries, surgical and orthopaedic apparatus manufacturing, shoes and footwear manufacturing, toys, luggage/bags manufacturing, automobile upholstery and various other industrial segments.

This finance ministry move follows the Designated Authority in the commerce ministry initiating second sunset review investigation on imports of “narrow woven fabric” imports from China and Chinese Taipei.

Ishi Industries Limited had filed the petition seeking sunset review on “narrow woven fabric” imports from China and Chinese Taipei.

Finance Ministry had in October 2010 levied a definitive anti-dumping duty of $ 2.87 per kilogram on “non woven fabric” imports from China. In the case of Chinese Taipei, the anti-dumping duty was pegged at $ 1.75 per kilogram.
